Bernadette is the ambient musical project of Chris Belkofer; one half of Milwaukee’s gothic post-punk duo Genau. Keeping the dreary tones and darkish vibes of Genau, but removing pop song structures, bass guitar, drums, and vocals, Bernadette is rooted in the no wave and post-punk musical traditions of using a guitar to create music that doesn’t necessarily sound like it was made with a guitar. Alternate tunings, various guitar effect pedals, and tape loops are used to create evolving textures and drones that evoke a sense of place and mood.

We are proud to announce that Bernadette’s debut EP, Panic Songs, is slated for release on November 24, 2023 via Triple Eye Industries.
